A Little About The Author

I am a garden enthusiast of over 50 years. Since childhood I have loved getting my hands in the soil. Watching a seed germinate and grow still delights me to the core. Over the years I have nurtured gardens of every shape and size, from balcony gardens to rambling gardens.

I studied plant biology, ecology, and botany as part of my education degree, and nothing thrills me more than watching something grow—from seed to bloom to table. This site is where I share that passion with down-to-earth advice from a fellow gardener who knows the joy of dirt under the nails.

I live in Northern Canada zone 3, so our growing season is short and challenging. Still creating an oasis to enjoy is one of my greatest passions. This site gives me an excuse the chance to share it with you.

I also work in an academic library, so I can access scientific papers and books. My research does not involve looking at the top 10 results in Google. Instead, I search for scientific papers and base my articles on them.
